Biography

The Chinese artist Lu Luo, married to artist Zhuang Hong Yi, received her artistic training at the Sichuan College of Fine Arts in Chongqin. In 1992 she and her husband travelled to The Netherlands where they both continued their training at the Minerva Academy in Groningen. Luo's first exhibition in The Netherlands took place at Gallery Waalkers in Finsterwolde, where she later participated in an artist-in-residence program. Diverse exhibitions in (inter)national galleries and art fairs then followed.

A highlight was her participation in a group show in the Groninger Museum in 2001. In 2007 Lu Luo and her husband Zhuang again had a duo exhibition in the Groninger Museum. In the last five years Lu Luo has been inspired by theatre costumes from the traditional Chinese opera.
