Biography
Dean Fox was born in London and studied fine art and illustration at the prestigious Central St Martins School of Art and Design. Following his degree, Fox pursued a career as a visualiser - a commercial artist producing visuals, storyboards and conceptual art within the advertising and gaming sectors. This experience gave Dean a professional approach to his artistic practice. He honed his skills as a draftsman and gained knowledge of anatomy, which Dean feels is a crucial aspect that all artists should fundamentally understand. After many years working in this sector, Dean returned to his first love of oil painting with a passion to push his own creativity and express himself authentically.
His works generally deconstruct classical themes, minimise the subjects and abstract them. These approaches combined with desaturated colour palettes, lead to a beautiful exploration and reinvention of his initial passion for classical art. The interplay of complementaries between abstraction and objectivity in Dean's work is always the central focus and he feels strongly that this balance is important in all aspects of art and life in general.
