Eser Gündüz | This is a Grey World, Nothing Good Happens Here: London

16 - 28 February 2024

'This is a Grey World, Nothing Good Happens Here'

Gündüz extends his practice in this new series of works by addressing the paradoxical nature of modern society and human nature by dwelling on the notion that our world is often considered dull, desolate and monotonous and yet vibrant, abundant and varied at the same time.

The colour grey befittingly associates itself with negative connotations in today's society, although Gündüz retracts this theory by reminding us that grey was once historically interpreted as a symbol of hope and happiness during the Middle Ages, simultaneously altering our perception to encourage us to find the beauty within the perceived bleakness.

The exhibition also introduces an innovative and technical element in which the artist incorporates electronic components into his compositions that illuminate his signature resin frame. A reminder that darkness can be instantly eliminated by light, revealing concealed beauty.
